The WMF International Roadshow Albania is an exciting opportunity for startups in Albania to showcase their innovations and ideas on a global stage. The event will take place on March 15th, 2023, at the Maritim Hotel Plaza in Tirana, in collaboration with Albania Economia, Moneys Magazine, Camera di Commercio Italiana in Albania – CCIA, and Edona Bilali, Minister of State for Entrepreneurship Protection in the Albanian government.
The International Roadshow Albania is a “satellite events” tour created through direct collaborations with various countries around the world, with the aim of strengthening global cooperation and sharing ideas in the digital, social, and entrepreneurial sectors. The project covers 5 continents and stops in 29 countries, contributing to the sustainable co-construction of a better future for all by embracing digital tools and considering innovation, accessibility, and equality as key values for the modern world.
During the Albanian event, 15 startups will be selected to bring their ideas to the stage and will be judged by an international investor jury and WMF members. The top three winners will participate in the WMF 2023 in Rimini, Italy, and will be awarded various prizes, including a desk in the Startup District, access to B2B and networking activities, and the opportunity to participate in the Startup Stage in Rimini, Italy.
Additionally, all startups selected from the local Startup Competition during the Albanian event will have access to B2B meetings with international investors, a local exhibition area dedicated to startups, and WMF’s global network, with the possibility of being involved in related initiatives throughout the year.
This event promises to be a fantastic opportunity for startups in Albania to showcase their innovations and ideas on a global stage and contribute to the sustainable co-construction of a better future for all.
We asked to Edona Bilali, Minister of State for the Protection of Entrepreneurship, how important it is to open up the Albanian startup ecosystem to internationalization with events like the WMF International Roadshow Albania, and how the startup law is positively influencing the growth of new technology companies:
“The startup and innovation ecosystem in Albania is a very dynamic, fast-paced, agile and ever changing environment which deserves the recognition of the hard work and the promotion of our entrepreneurs and our community worldwide. We have hard-working people with marvelous ideas which have been exploring most of the opportunities that Albania offers, but they cannot stop here. They need to be introduced to more challenging and exciting opportunities internationally. These kinds of events, like WMF, pave their road towards meeting like-minded people, great potential collaborations, new investors, exploring new technologies and what is more important new customers for them, which leads to more revenue for their startups. Internationalization of the Albanian ecosystem is one of the main objectives of the mission of the Minister of State for the Protection of Entrepreneurship in Albania towards supporting the development of the startup ecosystem, so initiatives like this are more than applauded”, she said.
The jury present at the Hotel Plaza on March 15th includes: Gianluca Berghella, CEO of Armundia Group; AnaMaria Meshkurti, Head of Marketing, Communications and Engagement at the Fongit (Fondation Genevoise pour l’Innovation Technologique), the premier Swiss technology startup innovation platform and incubator; Shqipe Berisha, General Manager at TUMO Tirana Center for Creative Technologies; Genti Selenica, CEO of Baboon; Antonio Nidoli President CCIA and CEO of Edilcentro; Luca Busi, President of Coca-Cola Bottling Shqipëria and Uji Ftohte Tepelene; Mario Tonucci, Founder of Tonucci&Partners; Antonio Baccari, Feel Venture VC London; Giancarlo Vergine, CEO of OverVentures and Ana Petani, Advisor to the Minister of State for the Protection of Entrepreneurship.
